Case for Support Breakdown Campaign Goal: $722,000
Living Our Mission is a campaign; which supports the current and future growth of our Church and will benefit both Saint Jerome Parish and the Diocese of Richmond. Saint Jerome Parish is as a warm and welcoming community, committed to evangelizing the faith and building towards a blessed future. Our parish will receive $240,677 or one-third of our parish goal towards the four case elements listed below. Our parish goal is $722,000. If we reach this goal, our parish will receive two-thirds of all of the funds raised over the goal and these will also be used for the following projects.
Parish Share Goal: $240,667
Parish Case Element 1: Renovations and Maintenance-$80,000
- Improve exterior and interior lighting
- Upgrade church kitchen
- Renovate bathrooms and classrooms
- Replace roofing on rectory and office
As we enter into our 50th Jubilee Year, we also enter into some basic maintenance and renovation needs. Our parish is in need of repairing or improving areas of constant use and replacing some basic equipment such as the kitchen ovens. The funds that are raised from the Living Our Mission campaign will help us make these improvements.
Parish Case Element 2: Formation and Outreach-$70,000
- Expand formation program by increasing retreat opportunities for adults and teens
- Invite national speakers for parish missions
- Increase child focused community activities
At St. Jerome, we actively seek to engage our parish family with various adult, teen and children catechetical programs from bible studies, retreats, mission experiences and days of reflection and fellowship. We would like to increase our level of activity by inviting national speakers to address a variety of topics, offering more affordable retreat experiences to our adults and teens and extending outreach to children in our community. An increase in funding for these programs would allow those without financial means to participate and become engaged in catechetical programs.
Parish Case Element 3: Evangelization-$50,000
- Expand parish communications by improving social media networks
- Replace antiquated office equipment and audio/visual aids
- Enhance spiritual experience by offering a meditative space
As technology continues to rapidly develop, we continue to see the benefit in using social media for evangelization purposes. Our hope as a parish is to reach those that have left the church or those that are curious about the faith and invite them to walk through our doors and learn about Christ. Improving our communication ability and updating our equipment will greatly help us reach out to those in our community. A prayerful place to gather, our New Evangelization Garden, will invite people to come and enter a quiet, reflective place and speak with God.
Parish Case Element 4: Debt Reduction-$40,667
We, at St. Jerome, are very fortunate that we have been able to pay all our bills and have no major debt. Currently, we are “repaying” ourselves for the construction of the Columbarium and would like to pay off that loan. We also have currently purchased new hymnals that would be paid off with the funds provided from the Living Our Mission campaign.
I am glad that the time has finally come to make some of our dreams become a reality. I know that the Diocesan Living OurMission Capital Campaign is essential in order to meet the needs and concerns of our parish and community.
With this, we are making an investment in our parish now and in the years to come. I am confident that our undertaking will help us live the mission of our faith and will reap many rewards in the future.
I support the Diocesan Capital Campaign. I hope and pray that you will support it as well. Let us engage in partnership.Fr. Jong R. Bayta
