Case for Support Breakdown Campaign Goal: $425,000
As a Catholic family of faith, Christ the King shares in the universal mission of Christ Jesus. This parish brings the Gospel to the people of Norfolk and the surrounding area, not only by the words and deeds of its parishioners, but also by Christ the King School. Built in a prominent location on Columbia Avenue, our Church and School stand as a light to all: residents and vacationers, active and retired military personnel and civilians, the young and the elderly. Successful completion of this capital campaign, Living Our Mission, will permit us to strengthen our capacity to invite all to the fullness of Christ. By eliminating our remaining debt and more fully enhancing our parish facilities, we will be better able to continue to witness to our community on a time scale not measured in mere years, but rather by generations of faith.
Parish Share Up to Goal: $142,000
Christ the King will receive 1/3rd of the funds we raise up to our goal of $425,000 and 2/3rds of funds raised over goal. These funds can assist us in achieving our objectives and help us prudently plan for our future.
Parish Case Element 1: Establishing a Capital Projects Repair and Maintenance Fund – $71,000
Our church building and parish facilities are entrusted to our care. Our church is in need of upkeep and repairs. Maintaining the structural integrity, beauty and functionality of our parish facilities for current and future generations is critically important. The creation of a capital projects fund will help us to address some of these needs.
Parish Case Element 2: Debt Reduction – $71,000
This amount represents a core element of the initial campaign funds and will “Pay Down” some current debt. By so allocating this amount, we continue to retire our remaining debt. The result will be a fiscally stronger parish, better positioned to advance our sacred mission.
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Our faith is facing big threats. We need to come out resolutely to support the strengthening and spreading of our faith. Jesus gave us the necessary principles for peace and prosperity. We need to support all the efforts for spreading them. And this is the purpose of the diocesan campaign, known as Living Our Mission. I am encouraging all of us to participate as much as we can. Our Lord participated to the point of shedding His own blood so that we may live happily here on earth and in heaven.Father Matthias Lusembo
