Case for Support Breakdown Campaign Goal: $1,856,000
Our Mission Statement reminds us always of our faith commitments: Proclaim the Word of God, Celebrate the Eucharist and Serve the Local Community. Our parish family has a proud and rich history. Ascension has always been a welcoming and generous parish. People have always felt at home here! As a Parish Family, we join the Psalmist to ponder in our hearts, what return we can make to the Lord (Psalm 116:12). The Living Our Mission Campaign is now here in our home, Church of the Ascension, and we are all called to cherish and embrace it. This is the time for us to strengthen and deepen our faith commitments, and enhance our relationship with the Universal Church. What a wonderful privilege this campaign offers us, allowing us to share what we have for the well-being of the Church. People don’t need to ask for proof of what we are doing, it is easily seen by the way we promote social justice, help to alleviate suffering, serve others and foster hope! In our life, everything happens for a reason, for our spiritual good, and if we can see it through the eyes of faith we can truly be transformed. It is not how much we give but how much love we put into giving. Please, let us remember that we are not alone, God is with us! Together we can accomplish anything. Sharing with one another always increases joy and diminishes sorrow. May God bless you and the work of your hands!
Since Ascension parish was first established in 1972, we have grown and thrived and achieved much as a faith community. Our facilities are bustling with parish activities every day of the week, and more than 1,000 needy community members walk through our doors each month seeking our aid and assistance. The numbers we serve have increased God’s Word, Celebrating the Eucharist, and Serving the Local Community.
Yet during these 40 plus years, our physical plant has become worn out by our constant parish activity. Over the past several months a parish committee of facility management experts have been working hard to review the status of our parish facilities, and determine the most cost effective way we could upgrade and utilize them to better meet parish needs, maintain our deep social justice commitment, and insure a plan to sustain our excellent facility in the years ahead. In a similar way, other parishioners have also met to identify the growing needs of our expanding parish ministries.
Together we have come up with an overall plan to continue the vision of Ascension parish into the years ahead. Our plan has been vetted across the parish. Not only has it been analyzed by several different committees, it has been openly discussed and debated in a parish town hall meeting, followed by a frank discussion within the Parish Council, and finally approved by Fr. Daniel. It is bold and ambitious, and will require us to stretch our personal pocket books. But when we are done we will have a church and community facility that will last us for many more years!
