Case for Support Breakdown Campaign Goal: $1,018,000
Living Our Mission is a campaign which supports the current and future growth of our Church and will benefit both the Parish of the Holy Spirit and the Diocese of Richmond. Having celebrated our 40th Anniversary last year, our facility continues to show the effects of aging, and we are faced with necessary improvement or replacement of some essential needs. Holy Spirit will receive $339,333 or one-third of our parish goal towards the four case elements listed below. Our parish goal is $1,018,000. If we reach this goal, our parish will receive two-thirds of all of the funds raised over the goal and these will also be used for the following projects:
Parish Share: $339,333
Element 1: Replace the Organ in the Worship Space – $65,000
Music is one of the most important aspects of worship. Our organ is obsolete and in need of very costly repair. A replacement organ will enhance the richness of the liturgy and add to the beauty of the worship space.
Element 2: Construct a New Parking Lot & Upgrade Our Exterior Lighting – $200,000
As our parish family grows, one of our greatest needs is more parking space and improved exterior lighting to increase convenience, improve visibility and ensure safety. Our goal is to greatly reduce the use of neighborhood streets and local business lots for overflow parking.
Element 3: Replace the Damaged Flooring in the Activity Center and Hallways – $60,000
The Fr. Carr Activity Center is in constant use and is the heart of our gathering for fellowship and education. The flooring in our activity center and hallways is damaged, dark and dated. A more comfortable and appealing surface will go far in rendering the space more welcoming and warm at Holy Spirit Parish.
Element 4: Establish a Reserve Fund for Capital Needs – $14,333
As our building continues to age, a reserve fund for capital needs in the foreseeable future will be necessary, especially for anticipated upgrades of the facility’s heating and air conditioning system and the kitchen.
Through ‘Living Our Mission’ we at Holy Spirit are asked to share what we have and who we are as Christians by reaching out to the poor and the needy, supporting our future clergy and taking care of our retired priests. Also, we hope to have the financial resources to make our parish environment more comfortable and welcoming for those who worship and share fellowship at Holy Spirit. Our active participation as a parish will ensure the success of this campaign. May God bless us all!Fr. Lito Abiog, Pasto
