Case for Support Breakdown Campaign Goal: $900,000
Living Our Mission is a capital and endowment campaign which invites gifts to provide support, growth and benefit to Our Lady of Lourdes and the Catholic community throughout the Diocese of Richmond. The Living Our Mission campaign will provide to our parish over one-half of all that is collected up to our goal of $900,000, plus a bonus level of two-thirds of the collected funds raised over our goal. The $456,000 we anticipate receiving will advance our parish in the following ways:
Parish Share Up To Goal: $456,000
Element 1: School Renovations: $300,000
Our School building is used by all of our Christian Formation programs, the Vacation Bible School and the Sacramental Retreats in both English and Spanish. Additionally, it offers space for important meetings of the Parish Council, the Filipino Festival Committee, the Cub Scouts, and for the work of Caritas among the homeless. Of course, it also serves as the home for Our Lady of Lourdes School, which has produced people of faith and wisdom, who have contributed to our parish and the Richmond community for the last fifty years. In 2011, Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School was recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School. The Campaign will provide much needed funds to replace the original windows and upgrade both the heating and cooling system. These improvements will increase the efficiency of the building and make the environment both more conducive for Christian formation and elementary education, as well as the meeting and service activities that take place in the parish.
To raise additional renovation funds, a match grant is being requested from the Diocese so that every dollar given by parishioners to the Capital Campaign up to $250,000 will be matched by an additional dollar from the Diocese. This can result in raising the total funds available for School Building Renovations to $550,000 when the Capital Campaign Goal is met. The Diocese has given approval to this grant, which also has the potential to be increased in the future.
Element 2: Youth Ministry: $116,000
Our Catholic faith is the greatest treasure that we can share with our youth. National studies consistently show a significant number of young people are moving away from the Church, not attending Mass, nor participating in parish activities. Funds from this Capital Campaign will help our youth in two ways: the hiring of a full-time Youth Minister to engage our young people and help them grow as active Catholics committed to their faith: and, by establishing a fund to enable our young people to participate in various faith-based activities on state and national levels. Element 3: Technology Upgrade: $40,000 To more efficiently serve parishioners, our computers and technology will be upgraded. This effort will include the purchase and installation of new equipment that can be used in various ways for the school, parish faith education, and youth activities.

The Living Our Mission campaign gives our Parish the help we need to address two critical needs: the renovation of our widely used School building, and the hiring of a full-time Youth Minster to initiate a comprehensive Youth Ministry program. I ask your prayerful consideration of a sacrificial gift.Rev. James Begley
