Case for Support Breakdown Campaign Goal: $700,000
Sacred Heart will receive 55% of the funds we raise up to our goal of $700,000 and 90% of funds raised over goal. These funds can assist us in achieving our objectives and help us prudently plan for our future.
Parish Share Goal: $385,000
Sacred Heart is a parish of families that truly understands the meaning of faithfulness, service and sacrifice. We invite our parish community to fully support the Living Our Mission capital campaign in order to provide for the direct needs of the Sacred Heart Parish and strengthen the work of the Diocese of Richmond. The funds received by Sacred Heart will be used to serve parishioners in the following ways:
Religious Education/Formation Fund: $42,500
One of the top concerns facing our parish is inspiring Catholics to grow in faith and deepen their commitment to the Church as disciples of Jesus. The Parish will use this fund to develop educational, devotional and outreach programs for current Catholics and to attract, develop, and retain the next generation of Catholics through cutting edge methods and processes. The Formation Ministry will use this fund to upgrade technology, to attend training courses, to purchase up-to-date educational materials, including books and videos, and sponsor retreats. Although the message of Jesus Christ in the Gospels has not changed in 2000 years, the methods, which we use to deliver the Good News, must stay current and relevant.
Social Ministries Fund: $42,500
Our parish is committed to serve those in need and to both educate parishioners and promote Catholic values on current issues. We must maintain and upgrade our soup kitchen to ensure we can adequately feed the hungry; we must witness our Catholic faith and charity to our community.
Parish Life/Capital Projects Repair and Maintenance Fund: $300,000
Our parish is entrusted with one of the most beautiful Churches in the Diocese, along with a large commons area that services our gatherings, and classrooms/meeting rooms that host a variety of ministries. However, the majority of our facilities are over 90 years old and all of the parish’s buildings are in a constant need of repair and refurbishment. We must maintain the structural integrity, beauty and functionality of our parish facilities for current and future generations. This is our responsibility and is critically important. This fund will address some of the following:
- Repair roof leaks and damaged ceilings in the chapel
- Upgrade Church interior plaster, paint and refurbish pews & kneelers
- Strip, repair and paint all exterior doors
- Upgrade sound system
- Replace HVAC ductwork and hot water heater
- Repave and re-stripe our parking lot
- Refurbish the commons bathrooms
- Enhance grounds, flowers and shrubs
- Replace phone system
