Case for Support Breakdown Campaign Goal: $500,000
Sacred Heart will receive $167,000, which is one-third of all the funds collected up to its goal of $500,000 for the Living Our Mission campaign. If our parish reaches its campaign goal, we will receive two-thirds of all funds collected over the goal. The funds received by Sacred Heart will advance our parish in the following ways:
Sacred Heart Share Goal: $167,000
Element 1: Church Doors $50,000
Many of the church exterior doors no longer shut or lock properly. We plan to replace them with more reliable, secure and energy efficient doors and upgrade the doors at our main church entrance to provide a more fitting entry into God’s house.
Element 2: School Facade $50,000
Great things are happening inside Sacred Heart School, and we want the exterior to reflect that. We plan to construct an attractive facade which integrates architectural elements of the church and provide a covered walkway for students as they arrive and depart. By leveraging a diocesan matching grant available for school improvements, we will actually have $100,000 for this project.
Element 3: Campus Security $25,000
We are working with professionals to develop a plan to ensure that our students, parishioners, and employees remain as safe as possible. We’re researching electronic locks, cameras, and enhanced lighting for the parking lots. By leveraging a diocesan matching grant available for school improvements, we will actually have $50,000 for this project.
Element 4: Sign $25,000
One of our greatest assets is a prominent location on a main road across from the largest high school in Danville. A new, modern sign will help indicate our location and enable us to convey information about church and school events and Mass times. By leveraging a diocesan matching grant available for school improvements, we will actually have $50,000 for this project.
Element 5: Endowment $17,000
Remaining funds, and any funds received beyond our goal, will strengthen the school endowment and parish investments, which we have needed to draw from in recent years to resolve cash flow issues. These funds will help ensure continued Catholic formation and worship in Southside Virginia for years to come.
The Sacred Heart of Jesus is fundamentally about God’s passionate love for us, and we are reflecting that love in amazing ways at Sacred Heart Parish and School. Now we have the chance to let our exterior reflect what’s happening inside, with a number of elements that will help show the world what Sacred Heart means to us. Plus, by supporting these many diocesan endowments and our own endowment, we can make sure Sacred Heart is a beacon of hope and love in our community well into the future.Rev. Jonathan Goertz
