Case for Support Breakdown Campaign Goal: $1,200,000
As a Catholic family of faith, St. Joan of Arc shares in the universal mission of Christ Jesus. This parish brings the Gospel to the people of Yorktown and the surrounding area, not only by the words and deeds of its parishioners, but also by the physical presence of the Church itself. Built in a prominent location on George Washington Memorial Highway (Rt. 17), our Church stands as a light to all: residents and vacationers, active and retired military personnel and civilians, the young and the elderly. Successful completion of this capital campaign, Living Our Mission, will permit us to strengthen our capacity to invite all to the fullness of Christ. By eliminating our remaining debt and more fully addressing the developing needs of our parish and surrounding community, the mission of Jesus is furthered. We will be better able to continue to witness to our community on a time scale not measured in mere years, but rather by generations of faith.
Parish Share: $626,000
Parish Case Element 1: Debt Reduction – $300,000
This amount represents a core element of the initial campaign funds and will “Pay Down” our current debt. By so allocating this amount, we will be able to retire our remaining debt. The result will be a fiscally stronger parish, better positioned to advance our plans for new construction with a sacred mission.
Parish Case Element 2: New/Expanded Facility – $326,000
This amount represents the seed money to be allocated for the future construction of a new Parish Center. This new building recognizes the openhearted generosity of Christ celebrated at St. Joan of Arc. Out of gratitude for Hank and Gerry Rose, and their sacrificial gifts to the parish and the faithful at St. Joan of Arc, this new Parish Center will bear their name as the “Rose Center”. One of the top concerns facing our parish in these modern times is the work of inspiring Catholics to grow in faith and deepen their identity in Christ and their commitment to the Church as Disciples of Christ. In order to meet this important need, $326,000 from this campaign will be used as seed money toward our building fund to construct a new multipurpose facility that will be designed to successfully meet needs and grow the Church. Some aspects of the building envisioned include a larger and more appropriate Day Chapel, new and much needed classrooms, and multi-functional social space with modern kitchen facilities, and expanded parish offices.
