Case for Support Breakdown Campaign Goal: $1,400,000
Jesus Christ said to his first disciples, “Go into the whole world and proclaim the Gospel.” (Mark16:15) This mission is still being lived out by the disciples of Jesus today. As members of St. Mary Church, we know that Christ has offered us the opportunity to proclaim His Gospel through our words and actions. We are baptized believers who understand that the Gospel can transform our lives, our neighbors’ lives and the life of the whole world. The Living Our Mission campaign gives us a new opportunity to generously follow the example of Jesus as we reach out to those in need, proclaim Christ’s Gospel to those who have not heard it and engage youth and young adults in a way that gives us a future full of hope. Jesus is the one who calls us – let us respond with joy!

The Living Our Mission campaign will return to our parish one-third of anything collected up to our goal of $1,400,000 and two-thirds of anything collected over the goal. The $462,000 we anticipate receiving will advance our parish in the following ways:
Parish Share Up To Goal: $462,000
Element 1: Increasing Evangelization and Discipleship: $100,000
The five-year pastoral plan for evangelization is a milestone event for our Church as it focuses on bringing back “fallen-away” Catholics to our parishes as well as welcoming new Catholics into the Faith. In order to proactively move these efforts forward, the Living Our Mission campaign will provide funds to develop programs that invigorate and unite us in our faith as Catholic Christians. Over the next four years, with the help of this campaign, St. Mary will be able to provide ministry directed at 1) strengthening marriage and family life, 2) outreach to neighbors who have not heard the Gospel of Jesus, or who have left the active practice of their faith, 3) outreach to people on a local and global level. Pope Francis has invited each of us to do what we can to strengthen our love for Christ and His Church. The more we experience Christ’s love in our daily lives, the more we will want to share that with others.
Element 2: Developing Our Future Leaders: $100,000
Across the Diocese we have been blessed to see a significant increase in young people participating in the life of the Church and St. Mary is no exception. In order to respond to this positive momentum, the Living Our Mission campaign will allow St. Mary to build a reserve fund for the current and future growth of our youth and young adult ministry programs which involve such opportunities as work camps, mission trips, retreat experiences and enhanced speaker and performer events. With this support, our parish will foster transformational opportunities to root our young people in the faith so they embrace Christ’s mission in their early years and throughout their lives.
Element 3: Responding to Those in Need: $100,000
St. Mary is strongly rooted in the ministries of assisting those in need, serving our neighbors and advocating for social justice. Our parish was one of the first in the Diocese to work with refugee resettlement and international relief in addition to providing direct services (food, shelter, financial assistance) to those in need. As the need for help increases, St. Mary must expand its response. With support from the Living Our Mission campaign, we will be able to increase our Human Concerns endowment fund which will grow current outreach programs and ministries. These ministries represent our core mission as Catholics to feed the hungry, welcome the stranger, visit the imprisoned and aid the sick. By expanding this fund, we will ensure these vital ministries have the support they need to provide outreach and care for years to come.
Element 4: Creating a Debt-Free Environment: $162,000
We are a parish that is growing every day. This growth means more ministries and engagement which means we must have funds available to address them. One way of doing this is by eliminating our debt. Funds from Living Our Mission will assist in the mortgage balloon payment of $3.2 million in 2018 and enable our parish to create a debt-free environment for its ministries and community. In addition, we will be able to create the St. Mary Parish Improvement Fund. By doing so, it would reduce the need for new debt when we undertake major facilities projects such as HVAC repair or replacement, major appliance needs, roofing replacement or other items found in the long-term building capital plan. By creating a debt-free environment, St. Mary will be able to focus on its primary ministerial mission and truly be a community focused on “Rejoicing, Proclamation and Service”.
